2022 World Cup Stadiums: Lusail Iconic Stadium

Lusail Iconic Stadium is one of eight stadiums for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. It was under construction for four years until it was finally commissioned in 2021. The idea was for the facility to resemble former arenas known even from Premier League matches. The stands, built on a circular plan, are very close to the players. Taking into account that we are talking about the largest stadium of the upcoming championship, we should be calm about the hot atmosphere. After all, the footballers will be cheered on by as many as 80,000 fans.

Interestingly, the arena will be drastically reduced after the end of the upcoming World Cup. The seats in the stands will be reduced by 60 thousand seats. Part of the building will then turn into a community space with stores, cafes, sports and educational facilities and a clinic.

Lusail Iconic Stadium will host as many as ten matches of the Qatar World Cup. It will host six group stage matches, including three duels between the Polish national team’s group rivals. However, the most important event in the history of the venue will certainly be the grand finale. It will take place on December 18 at 20:00.
