Huge accolade for Haaland after match against United

Haaland played another incredible competition for Manchester City on Sunday. The Norwegian scored three goals against Manchester United setting a new Premier League record. The striker needed just eight games to score a hat-trick three times already.

The Norwegian was also recognized by journalists from France’s L’Equipe. The City striker received a rating of 10/10. The newspaper is well known for its rather harsh ratings, and only 13 players before the 22-year-old could boast such an achievement. They are Franck Sauzee, Bruno Martini, Oleg Salenko, Lars Winfield, Robert Lewandowski, Carlos Eduardo, Neymar, Dusan Tadic, Lucas Moura, Serge Gnabry, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Alban Lafont.

Lionel Messi has twice found himself receiving such an honor, but even the seven-time Golden Ball winner hasn’t won the award in more than 10 years, when Barcelona beat Bayer Leverkusen 7:1.

In the 21st century, only two players have received a rating of 10 from L’Equipe without scoring a hat-trick. They are Tadić in the Champions League, when Ajax won against Real Madrid, and Lafont for his stunning performance against PSG last season. Interestingly, Foden, who also scored a hat-trick for City in Sunday’s match, received a rating of 9.9.
