Simeone denied media reports
Cristiano Ronaldo tried hard to leave the ranks of Manchester United in the summer. The Portuguese did not want to play for a team competing only in the Europa League, so he instructed his agent to find him a new club. Despite strenuous efforts on the part of Jorge Mendes, the change of employer failed.
Liverpool should have lost out to City, however.
The 37-year-old was offered to Atletico Madrid, among others, in the summer, much to the outrage of Real fans. The Rojiblancos, according to the media, were probing the possibility of acquiring the Portuguese, although members of their board have repeatedly denied this.
