Camp Nou’s sad farewell to the Champions League
This was definitely not the farewell to the Champions League at Camp Nou that fans expected. FC Barcelona, after a disastrous match, lost as much as 0:3 to Bayern Munich. This was the last match at the Camp Nou in the Champions League in the near future. The Catalan Pride has planned to modernize the stadium, which is to be renovated and enlarged with additional seats. This will make it impossible to play matches there. Barca will play its last match in the Champions League group stage away against Viktoria Plzen.
In the 2023/24 season, the Blaugrana will play its matches at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in the Montjuic district. It has a capacity of about 60,000 seats. The renovation work is expected to take at least a year, and the project could cost up to €1.5 billion.
