Manchester United could have avoided defeat. Aston Villa scored a minimal victory over Manchester United in the away match of the sixth round of the English Championship. The game was double-edged from start to finish. With a roughly equal percentage of possession with a slight home advantage, Manchester United struck 2.5% more shots on goal – 15 versus six.
However, Aston Villa shot three times on target against four shots on target from the hosts. One of the blows of the Birmingham club was decisive in this match. Courtney Hose ran away from Edinson Cavani and outplayed Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea two minutes before regulation time expired.
